Um I would not do that if you're applying to positions in the finance industry, you won't make it past the front door most of the time.

First off-- thank you for all your advice on this site, it is very helpful. Anyway, I have a question:

I have an interview with a staffing company Thursday morning at 9AM in NYC. I have to get up early that day to get there on time, and take a train from my place upstate for an hour or so communte. Even if the interview is two hours, I will still feel like the trip is a waste of time for just the one staffing agency. In order to be more efficient with my time, what I was planning on doing was manually handing in a resume to a number of the companies with positions I felt I was most qualified for and had already applied online to, in an effort to distance myself from the competition so to speak. It takes your theory of "cold-calling" and goes even further. I was just wondering is this is a good idea to do in NYC, with security at the entrance of every building and will it significantly improve my chances of landing an interview?

Basically, is this idea even possible to do, and if so, what suggestions would you have?

Thanks
