I actually had to give up on an interview at JP Morgan for a full-time junior trader position (1 year contract though), because I just couldn't lie about taking an interview (I'm an intern at the moment). I just didn't want to be so dishonest about it even though I knew missing out for an hour would do no harm to the work because I had someone else who could cover up for me.

Hello,

I've only been out of undergrad about a year. I'm currently an analyst for a global investment bank, but I'm not based in New York. I accepted a position in operations because the job market was less than accomodating at the time of my graduation. I had a 3.5 GPA and worked my entire way through college. What would you say is the path I should follow to get out of IB operations and into the buy-side?
