Last time we looked at this one (early 2008), things were a lot different.
Major banks hadn’t failed yet, most of the “superstars” were still at bulge brackets, and the economy was better… sort of.
Starting with the key question:
“But are there any cases where a boutique would actually be preferable to a bulge bracket?”
We came to this conclusion:
“The only situation where you might want to pick a boutique instead is if you have offers from multiple banks, are reasonably confident the boutique will give you good work, and just like the people or work environment a lot more after thorough investigation.”
After everything that has happened in the past year, is that still true?

One common question I’ve been getting lately is how to decide on a summer internship when you have multiple offers. For those lucky enough to be in this position, how do you pick which internship to accept and which to turn down?

For everyone new to the site, I though it might be helpful to recap January 2008, just as I did for December 2007.
January was the second full month of operation for Mergers & Inquisitions, and I’m proud to say that visitors and pageviews more than doubled over December levels! I hope you’re continuing to find the site useful. Some of you have sent emails and resume review requests and I will get back to you, it just takes awhile to respond based on my schedule and how much else is going on at the time.
In terms of content, I focused on tips for resumes, internships and getting those investment banking jobs you’ve been after.
